Gk Namkeen

We are located over on Gaushala Road, right near the Main Road in Ratlam. This area near the Nagar Nigam is always crowded, which keeps us busy. At Gk Namkeen, the smell of spices and frying oil is pretty much everywhere from morning until we close late at night. We spend most of our time in the back where the big pans are. Making namkeen is a messy job, but someone has to do it. We have several large containers filled with different types of sev and mixtures. The floor is usually a bit slippery from the oil, and it gets quite hot near the stoves, especially during the summer months in Ratlam. Customers come in looking for something to have with their evening tea, and we just weigh it out in paper bags. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. Most people just see the sign when they are walking toward the main road and stop in. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by four in the afternoon, and then we have to rush to make more. It’s a small team here, mostly family and a couple of boys from the neighborhood. We just focus on getting the salt and spice levels right for every batch. It’s simple work, but it keeps us going. The shop isn't very big, but it’s enough for what we need.
