Our flour mill, Sri Shanshank And Amar Besan Flour Mill Private Limited, is located at house number 1-152 in Jalpally. We are right near the government school, so it’s a pretty easy landmark to give people. We mostly deal with grinding chana dal into besan. The machines run for most of the day and it gets quite dusty, as you can imagine with a flour mill. We’ve been operating in Jalpalle for some time now. It’s a local operation and we know most of the people who bring their grain to us or buy from us. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just the mill and the storage area. The workers here have been with us for a while and they know how to handle the machinery. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait, but that’s just part of working in this area. We focus on getting the texture of the flour right because that’s what the customers care about. Being near the school means there’s always kids running around outside, so we have to be careful with the trucks coming in. We don't do much advertising. People in Jalpally and the nearby villages just know where we are. It’s a straightforward business of grinding grain and making sure the bags are packed right. We keep things simple and just try to stay on top of the maintenance. It is hard work, but someone has to provide the flour for the local kitchens.
