Our place is located in Yellampet Village, which is part of the Medchal Mandal. Being out in the village suits us because of the kind of work we do with manures. At Plot No 181/1, there is always plenty of space for the piles of organic material we work with. It isn’t the cleanest job in the world, and yes, there is definitely a smell to it, but you stop noticing after the first hour of work. We deal with a lot of local farmers who come by with their tractors to pick up what they need for their fields. The seasons really dictate how busy we are. When it’s planting time, we are running around from sunrise to sunset. During the off-season, we spend more time turning the piles and making sure everything is decomposing the way it should. We have a few sheds to keep the dry stuff out of the rain. The staff here are mostly local guys from around Medchal. We don’t wear suits or sit in air-conditioned rooms. We’re usually in boots and old clothes, out in the yard. It’s honest work that helps the crops grow, and that’s about it. Sometimes we sit under the big tree near the gate to eat our lunch and talk about the weather or the price of grain. It’s a simple setup, but it works for us.
