Our place is at Plot No 28 in K K Nagar. We are in Phase III of Bandlaguda Jagir. It’s an area that has been growing a lot lately with new houses and shops popping up everywhere. We set up the chit fund here because we saw how many new families were moving in and needed a way to save together without a lot of hassle. The office is pretty basic and we like it that way. We have a sturdy table, some plastic chairs, and a lot of paper folders for all the accounts. Dealing with chits involves a lot of record-keeping, so we spend most of our time writing things down by hand. We don't have a receptionist or anything fancy. If you walk in, you’ll probably just see me or one of the other guys working on the books while we listen to the radio. We know the people in Phase III pretty well by now. We see them walking their kids to school or going to the grocery store. It’s nice to have a business where you actually know your customers by name and know their stories. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit by the window to use the natural light. We aren't trying to be some massive financial company. We just like running this small chit fund for the people around Bandlaguda. It keeps us busy and it helps out the folks who live on our street. Most of the time it’s just quiet, steady work.
