Mahesh Hardwares

Our shop, Mahesh Hardwares, is at 1-18-10C in Gumastha Nagar, Tandur. It’s a straightforward hardware store. We have been here for a good amount of time now. The shelves are packed with everything from basic nails and hammers to plumbing pipes and different kinds of paints. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to stock as much as possible so people don't have to go all the way to the bigger city. Tandur is a place where everyone knows each other, so we spend a lot of time just chatting with customers who come in for a small thing. I usually sit near the front desk with a cup of tea. It’s not a high-tech operation. We write down orders in a big ledger book and keep track of things that way. Sometimes we run out of something and have to wait for the truck to come in. The morning is usually our busiest time when the local workers stop by to get supplies for their daily jobs. In the afternoon, it gets quiet and we might reorganize the bins of bolts or clean the floor. Gumastha Nagar is a nice area, mostly residential with a few shops like ours. We don't do any big advertising or anything. If someone needs to fix a leaky tap or paint a room, they just walk over and ask for what they need. It’s a quiet, steady way to live.
