Waquar General Stores

Our shop, Waquar General Stores, is right there on Madrsa Road in the Kadru area of Ranchi. Being near the Haj House means we see a lot of people passing through, especially during certain times of the year. The shop itself isn't very big and we have stuff piled up pretty high on the wooden racks. I usually sit near the front by the cash box. It gets a bit cramped when three or four people come in at once. We sell the usual household things like soaps, hair oil, and bags of flour. Sometimes the delivery truck arrives late and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow for their favorite brand of tea. It's a bit of a mess sometimes with the boxes lying around but we know where everything is kept. The light inside is a bit dim because the bulb flickers now and then. Ranchi weather can be unpredictable so we always keep some umbrellas near the door just in case it starts pouring suddenly. My nephew helps me out in the evenings when the crowd from the offices starts coming back. We don't really do anything special, just sell what people ask for and talk about the news or the weather. It is a quiet life on most days except when the traffic on Madrsa Road gets really loud and the dust comes flying inside the shop every time a truck passes.
