Vedanta Aluminium Limited

This office is tucked away in the A.G. Co-Operative Colony in Ranchi. It’s a residential area in Kadru, which makes for a different vibe than the industrial zones. We are the Vedanta Aluminium presence here in Jharkhand. Vijay Gopal’s place is where we handle the local affairs and administrative work. It’s a much smaller setup than the big industrial sites you see in Orissa. We deal with a lot of paperwork and local liaison tasks to keep things moving. The office is relatively quiet compared to the noise of a metal factory. We have a few desks and some basic equipment to get the daily job done. Most days, it’s just us answering emails and making phone calls to coordinate with the main headquarters. We get visitors from time to time, mostly people coming in for meetings or to drop off documents. The colony is a nice place to work, with some trees around and not too much traffic. We don't have a big sign outside. People who need to find us usually know the way. It feels more like a small family business in here even though we are part of a massive company. We just do our bit to make sure everything runs smoothly from this side of the border. It’s a simple routine of filing and talking to people. Sometimes we go out for lunch at a small place nearby. The work isn't fast-paced but it’s steady.
