Usha Martin Limited, Ranchi

It might look a bit confusing to some people because we are technically the Ranchi branch, but our office is actually situated in Kolkata. We are based out of the Lici Staff Quarters at M-68, right in the New Alipore area. It is a residential neighborhood, so it stays much quieter than the main city center. We handle all the coordination for the Ranchi side of Usha Martin from this location. It is an interesting arrangement for sure, but it works well for the administrative tasks we have to cover. These quarters have been around for a long time. The office feels more like a lived-in space than a stiff, cold corporate building. We have our filing cabinets, some old computers, and a lot of coffee cups. The walk to the local market is very short, which is nice when we need to grab something for lunch. We don't have any big neon signs out front or anything like that. It is just a regular door in a very normal neighborhood. Most of our days are spent on the phone or going through long spreadsheets. It is not the kind of place where anyone wears a suit. We dress comfortably and just focus on the stuff that needs doing. New Alipore is a decent part of Kolkata with plenty of trees. We don't have a public-facing shop, as it is mostly just administrative work. We like it this way. It stays quiet, and we can get through the paperwork without any distractions.
