U K Store

U K Store is located right in the middle of Harmu Bazaar. If you are familiar with the Harmu Housing Colony in Ranchi, you probably know the Masjid there. We are just a short walk from it. The bazaar is a busy place, especially in the evenings when the local market is in full swing. Our shop is quite small and can get very crowded with all the bags of rice and crates of eggs lying around. We try our best to keep everything in its place, but it is a constant struggle. We sell all the basic stuff like pulses, oil, and household cleaners. Dealing with the heat in the summer months is probably the toughest part of the job. We have a small ceiling fan that barely does anything, but we keep going. People from the colony come to us because we have been here for a long time. We are not trying to compete with the big supermarkets. We just offer a simple place where you can get your groceries quickly. Sometimes we run out of change and have to ask the neighbor shop, which is just how things go here. My family has been involved in this for a while now. We open up early and stay till late evening. It is a lot of standing around and talking to people, which I do not mind really. It is just an honest way to make a living for us.
