The 7 Palms Hospital & Research Centre

The 7 Palms Hospital & Research Centre is situated out on Lalgutuwa Gumla Road, right near Kathal More. It’s a bit of a drive if you’re coming from the main city center, but we like being out here. The area around Kathal More is growing, but it still has a lot of open space compared to other parts. Our building stands out a bit on Gumla Road. We have a lot of different things going on here because of the research side of things too. It means there are often people in lab coats walking around alongside the regular patients. The waiting room gets quite busy in the afternoons. We have some wooden benches and a few newer chairs for people to sit on while they wait for their turn. The floors are stone and they stay relatively cool even when it’s warm outside. We don’t really spend much time on decorations or fancy signs. It’s more about the actual work. We have a small canteen nearby where staff grabs tea. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of life here. Everyone knows each other’s names for the most part. It’s a steady place to work. We just keep our heads down and handle the patients as they arrive, making sure the records are kept straight. Being near Kathal More means we see a lot of people from the nearby villages too. It's just a regular part of the local landscape now.
