Student Books Depot

Student Books Depot is tucked away in Upper Bazar, right in the Morabadi area. We are quite close to Ranchi University, so we see a lot of young faces every single day. The shop started out small and it still feels that way sometimes even with all the stuff we have crammed onto the shelves. Dealing with textbooks and notebooks is basically what our whole day looks like. We open up early in the morning because that’s when the students start heading toward the campus. It can get a bit messy with papers and boxes lying around, but we try our best to keep a path clear for people to walk through. The building is an older one and the stairs can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the locals or helping someone look for a specific title that’s buried under a pile. There isn't a big team here, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the door where there is more light. It is a simple way to make a living and we have been in this part of Ranchi for a long time now. We don't have any flashy signs or big displays, just the books and the counters. It stays busy enough to keep us on our feet.
