Sonu General Store

Sonu General Store is located over at Karbala Chowk in the Ranchi GPO area. We are on Konka Road, which stays pretty busy most of the week. It’s a standard little shop where we keep the essentials. The building is older, and we’ve been here long enough that most people know where we are. We get the morning rush when the offices nearby open up. It’s not a big place, just enough room for the counters and a few rows of goods. We deal with the usual Ranchi weather, rain one day and sun the next, which means we’re always moving stock away from the entrance. My brother and I take turns behind the counter. We don't have a computer system or anything, just a pen and paper for the accounts. Sometimes we run out of things faster than the supplier can bring them, which can be annoying. The 834001 area is lively, and there's always something happening on the street. We just try to keep the shelves full of the basics people ask for. It’s a simple life running a general store. We close up when the street lights come on and do it all again the next day. The walls could use some fresh paint, but there never seems to be a good time to stop and do it. We also keep a small fridge for cold drinks which is popular in the summer months. It is just a small local shop for the people living nearby on Konka Road.
