Shankar Store

Our shop is right across from Golden Camp on HB Road in Ranchi. Kokar is a busy part of town and we see a lot of different people passing by every day. The store isn't very large, so we have to be careful about how much stock we bring in at once. We sell general items that people need for their houses, like spices, tea, and cleaning supplies. It gets pretty busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work or errands. The counter is usually cluttered with small things like matchboxes and chewing gum. We've been in this spot for a long time and the building is showing its age a bit, but it serves us well enough for now. Sometimes the street noise makes it hard to hear what a customer is asking for, so we have to ask them to repeat it. We do all the work ourselves, from opening the shutters to locking up at night. There’s always a list of things we need to order from the wholesalers to keep the shelves full. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We have a couple of old fans that help a bit with the humidity. Most people around here know us and we know them. We just try to keep the shop open during the hours we promised.
