Sanjay Paan And General Store is on Road No 2 in Ashok Nagar, Ranchi. We are quite close to the C.G.W.B office, so a lot of our customers are people working there. I started out mostly selling paan, but then I realized people also needed basic things like cigarettes, matches, and some snacks, so I added the general store part. It’s a small shop, but we stay busy. Ranchi weather is usually pleasant, but when it rains, everyone crowds under our small awning. I spend most of my day preparing the paan leaves while keeping an eye on the other items. We have some shelves with biscuits, cold drinks, and basic toiletries. It’s a bit of a mix, really. My younger brother helps out during the lunch hour when the office crowd comes out. They want their paan after their meal, and some of them buy things for their homes too. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The C.G.W.B staff are like friends to us because we see them every day. We don't have any corporate style here, just a wooden counter and a few stools for people to sit for a minute. It’s a simple way to make a living in Ashok Nagar. We just try to keep the shop clean and the stock fresh. It’s honest work and it keeps us going day after day.
