Reliance Hyper Mart

Reliance Hyper Mart is tucked away over at the Indian Institute Of Coal Management in the Kanke area. It’s registered under Mr. Ganesh Mallick’s care here in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Being in the 834006 zone means we are a bit further out from the main city center, near the institute. It’s a big space because, well, it’s a hyper mart, so there’s always a lot of lifting and moving boxes. We spend most of our shift stocking shelves and making sure the floors are somewhat clean. The Kanke road gets busy with trucks and people coming from the institute, so there is always some noise outside. It’s a practical place to work. We don’t have any fancy music playing or anything; it’s just the sound of people shopping and the scanners at the front. The weather in Kanke can be a bit different from the rest of Ranchi, sometimes feeling a bit more open. We have a lot of regular customers who live in the government quarters nearby. They come in for their weekly groceries and we’ve gotten to know what they usually buy. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s honest work. We just keep the lights on and make sure the items are where they should be so people can find what they need without too much trouble. Sometimes the stock arrivals are late, and we just have to deal with it and explain it to the folks.
