Priya Store

Priya Store is tucked away on Ratu Road in Ranchi. This part of New Market gets a bit confusing because people keep calling it different things but we are right there on Ratu Road near the main stretch. I have been working here for a long time and seen the road change quite a bit with more cars and less space to walk. The shop itself is pretty small and sometimes the stacks of detergent boxes make it hard to move around behind the counter. I try to keep things tidy but when the school kids come in for their snacks in the afternoon it always ends up a bit messy. Ranchi weather is usually okay but when it rains the water splashes right up to our doorstep. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights just some old wooden shelves that have held up well over the years. My brother helps me out sometimes with the heavy lifting when the new supplies arrive on the rickshaw. We mostly sell the daily essentials that families around Ratu Road need for their morning cooking. It is a quiet kind of business most of the day until the office workers start heading back home. I usually just sit on my small stool and watch the world go by while waiting for the next customer to come in asking for a bag of salt or a bar of soap.
