Mangal General Store

Ranchi is busy most days and our spot here on Kanke Road gets a lot of that noise. We are just down the way from Cambrian School so we see a lot of kids and parents passing by when the bells ring. Mangal General Store has been sitting here for quite some time now and the shelves are usually packed with everything from soap to snacks. It is not a big fancy place but it gets the job done for people living nearby. Sometimes the mornings are quiet and I just sit on a stool looking out at the traffic. Then it picks up and we are busy handing out small change and bagging things up. The weather in Ranchi can get a bit dusty so I am always wiping down the glass jars. We try to keep things where people can find them easily. It is just a regular life here. I know most of the faces that come through the door because they live just a few streets away. We don't have those big bright signs or anything like that. Just the name on the front and the items inside. If someone needs a bottle of oil or some biscuits for tea they just stop by. It feels like a part of the neighborhood more than just a shop. The floor gets a bit worn out from all the walking but that is just how it is.
