Mama General Stores

Mama General Stores is located right on Ratu Road in Ranchi. We are easy to find because we sit directly opposite the Kabristhan. Being near the graveyard means it is a bit quieter on some days, but the road itself is always full of vehicles and noise. We have been operating here for years now, just selling basic things that folks in this part of town need. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use every bit of space we have to keep our inventory. There are boxes stacked in the back and items hanging from the ceiling hooks. It gets a bit cramped when more than three people come in at once, but we manage somehow. My uncle started this place, and now we just keep it going as best as we can. Every morning starts with sweeping the front and checking what ran out the day before. We get a lot of locals who stop by on their way home from work. Sometimes we just sit and watch the traffic go by when things are slow in the afternoons. It’s a basic shop for basic needs. We don’t do any fancy advertising or marketing. People just know we are here. Ranchi weather is something else, so we keep the fan running all day to stay cool. It’s hard work standing all day, but it’s what we do. We try to keep the items fresh for everyone. If someone needs something specific, we try to get it for them by next week when the supplier comes.
