Kumar General Store

Kumar General Store is on Itki Road in Hehal, Ranchi, right near the Joda Mandir. Being close to the temple means we get a lot of different people coming by, especially on the days when there are special prayers or festivals. Unlike a kirana shop that just sells food, we keep a lot of general items like stationery, plastic items, and household things. The shelves are a bit of a mix, with school notebooks sitting next to bottles of shampoo or packets of light bulbs. It is a lot to keep track of, and the shop usually feels a bit crowded with all the different types of stock. I start the day by cleaning the front area and making sure the items are somewhat in order. It is a simple job, mostly just talking to the neighbors and helping them find what they need for their homes. The Joda Mandir is a good landmark, so people always know where to find us. We don't have any polished floors or bright signs, just the same old counter we have used for years and some stools for when the legs get tired. The work is steady, and there is always a bit of dust to wipe off the jars or the boxes. We just keep doing what we do every day, making sure we have the small things that people often forget to buy at the bigger markets. It is just a practical neighborhood store for everyone.
