Kamal Eye Clinic

We are located in the Burdwan Compound, right beside Holycross School in Lalpur. It’s a busy spot, especially when school lets out and the kids are everywhere. The compound itself is a bit quieter once you get inside. We have been running the eye clinic here for some time now. There are a lot of eye charts on the walls and those big machines for checking vision. The light in the rooms has to be just right, so we have heavy curtains. Sometimes we just sit and wait for the next person to come in for their checkup. We clean the lenses and wipe down the frames on the display racks. It’s a lot of small tasks that keep the day moving. The building is older, but it stays cool inside even when it’s hot out in Lalpur. You can hear the school bells ringing through the walls sometimes. We have a small staff and we all know each other’s habits by now. We drink a lot of tea between appointments. It is a straightforward kind of place. People come in because they can’t see the chalkboard or they need a new pair of glasses. We do what we can to help them out and then they go on their way. Kamal Eye Clinic feels like a fixed part of this little corner near the school. We just keep doing our thing day after day, year after year. It is just what we do.
