Jagdish Bhandar

Jagdish Bhandar has been a fixture in Upper Bazar for quite some time. We are right in the thick of things here in Ranchi. The market is always moving and we are right there along with it. My father started this shop, and now I handle most of the day-to-day stuff. We sell a lot of different things, mostly groceries and household items that people use every day. It’s a crowded shop, filled to the ceiling with bags and boxes. We don't have much room to move around, but we know exactly where everything is kept. If you ask for something, I can usually find it in a few seconds. We get all kinds of people coming in, from neighbors to folks passing through the city. It’s a noisy place with all the street sounds coming in, but we like the energy. We don't have any big fancy signs. The name is just painted on the front. We focus on having enough stock so nobody has to go elsewhere for their shopping. Sometimes the rain makes things a bit difficult, but we stay open regardless. It’s just a plain, honest shop. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. If you need some sugar or a new broom, you can just stop by and see us. We’ve been here for years and hope to be here for many more.
