Ganpati General Store

Ganpati General Store is located in Hinoo, Ranchi. It is a small place on a side street where we sell the basics. I open up around eight and stay until late in the evening. Most of the day is spent just sitting behind the wooden counter. We have jars of candy for the kids and big sacks of flour in the corner. I try to keep everything organized but it is hard when new stock arrives and there is nowhere to put it. The walls are covered in old calendars and some pictures. It is not a fancy store by any means. We have things like buckets, mops, and all the food items you need for a kitchen. The lights are a bit dim in the back so I have to use a torch sometimes to find things. Ranchi weather is okay, but when it rains, the water splashes into the doorway and I have to keep mopping it up. I know most of the people who live on this block. They come in for a chat and buy a few things like eggs or soap. It is a slow way to live but it is steady. I don't use any computers here, just a pen and a paper notebook to keep track of what I sell. It works fine for me and I don't see any reason to change. The shop is just part of the neighborhood and has been for a long time.
