Dr. Vandana

Dr. Vandana’s place is over at Sanjivani Medicare, which is tucked into Lah Kothi on Ratu Road. It is quite close to Hotel Raj Gharana, so that is usually how people find their way here if they are new to the area. The building has been there for a while and has that lived-in feel you get with local medical spots. We usually open up in the morning and stay until the last person is seen, which can sometimes be late if the day is particularly hectic. Ratu Road is always buzzing with cars and people, so there is never a quiet moment outside the windows. Inside, things are a bit more steady. We have some chairs for waiting and a small desk for appointments. It is not one of those huge, shiny hospitals you see in the city center; it is more of a local practice where we know the names of the families who live around the corner. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it is just quiet enough to catch up on filing. We deal with all sorts of regular health issues that people bring in. The lights in the hallway have a bit of a flicker sometimes, and the paint is peeling in one corner, but it doesn't get in the way of the work. It feels like a real part of the community here and we just keep it running.
