Patel Casting Company

The workshop is right opposite Khelgaon in Deepatoli. If you stand outside, you can see the big open space of the sports complex across the way. Patel Casting Company isn't a big factory with robots or anything like that. It’s a place where we get our hands dirty every single day. There is a lot of heat and the sound of metal hitting metal is something you just get used to after a week. We have been in this spot for a good while now. The building is older and the walls are stained with soot and grease from the machines. We don't have a fancy office for meetings; usually, we just talk to people out on the shop floor or near the entrance where the air is a bit cooler. Sometimes the orders are small and sometimes they take us weeks to finish. We don't use a lot of technology for the actual casting; it’s mostly about knowing how the metal flows and making sure the molds are set right. It’s heavy work and my back usually aches by the time I head home. We have a small crew and we all know what needs to be done without talking too much. The trucks come and go, picking up finished pieces and dropping off raw materials. It’s a practical business. We don't make it sound more important than it is. We just make things out of metal.
