Deepak General Stores

You can find Deepak General Stores near the Shiv Mandir Chowk on Nagra Toli Road in Ranchi. It’s a busy little corner of the city. I’ve been here for a long time, and the shop is just a part of the daily life around here. We carry everything from shampoo sachets to large bags of flour. The space is a bit cramped, especially when we get a new shipment and there are boxes everywhere on the floor. I try my best to keep things in order, but when three or four people come in at once asking for different things, it gets a bit hectic. I don't use any fancy billing machines, just a pen and a pad of paper to keep track of what people owe me. Many of our neighbors have a monthly account here, so I spend my Sunday evenings tallying everything up. The weather in Ranchi can get very wet during the monsoon, and the road outside gets quite muddy, so people are always wiping their feet at the entrance. We have a small bench outside where some of the older men sit and talk while their wives are inside shopping. I don't really think of this as a big business. It’s just a way to earn a living and help the people around Shiv Mandir get what they need without a lot of fuss. It’s a simple shop, nothing more, and that seems to be enough for everyone here.
