Choudhary General Store

This shop is over on Devi Mandap Road in Ranchi, right near the Hero Workshop. You can usually hear the sound of bikes being fixed while we are working inside. The Choudhary family has been here for a while, and the store is basically just a part of the neighborhood now. We have everything from spices to cleaning supplies tucked away in different corners. The building is older, and the floor is a bit uneven in places, but it works for us. We get a lot of foot traffic from people walking to the mandap or coming from Ratu Road. The shelves are crowded and sometimes it takes a second to find a specific brand of soap, but we know where everything is hidden. In the rainy season, the dampness gets into the air, so we have to be careful with how we store the flour bags. The Hero Workshop guys often pop in for a quick snack or a bottle of water. It is a noisy, busy little spot, but it feels like home to us. We don't have any big signs or bright lights, just the usual inventory that keeps the kitchen running for the families living around here. We just go about our day, sweeping the dust and talking to the regulars.
