Bamboos-Just Like Old Times

You can find us at the Khelgaon Housing Complex in Ranchi, specifically over in Sector-I, Block-I. The name Bamboos-Just Like Old Times came from how we wanted the place to feel. We used a lot of actual bamboo in the decor because it reminds us of how things used to be built around here. It’s not a huge space, but it’s comfortable enough for people living in the complex to drop by. We’re tucked away in Hotwar, so it’s mostly locals who know we are here. The kitchen isn't very big, so when it’s busy, things can get a little slow, but nobody seems to mind too much. We do a lot of the cleaning and cooking ourselves. Sometimes the music is a bit loud, or the fan makes a clicking noise, but that’s just how the place is. We wanted to create a spot where you don't have to dress up or act fancy. Most evenings, you’ll see the same few faces sitting at the corner tables. We serve food that we like to eat, nothing too complicated or hard to pronounce. It gets a bit dark in the evenings because we prefer the softer yellow lights over those bright white tubes. Sometimes we run out of a certain ingredient and have to change the menu on the fly. It’s just a small, honest business trying to give the neighborhood a place to sit for a while and talk.
