Ashok General Store

Ashok General Store is another one of those small spots in Ratu, Ranchi. We are located on the Ranchi Road. If you live around here, you probably pass us all the time on your way to the city. The shop is pretty straightforward. We have the usual stuff stacked up on the shelves, from snacks to soap. It’s a family-run thing, so there’s always someone you recognize behind the counter when you walk in. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It's just a regular shop where we try to keep things organized, though it gets a bit messy when a big shipment of sacks arrives. The floor is concrete, and we keep it swept twice a day. The area of Ratu is growing, but it still feels like a small town in many ways. We get the morning rush when people need their daily supplies, and then it settles down in the afternoon. That’s when we usually do our inventory or just have some tea while sitting on the stool. We’ve seen the road outside change over the years, getting wider and busier with more trucks. But inside the store, things stay mostly the same. We carry items that people use in their kitchens and homes every day. There’s no big philosophy behind what we do; we just open the shutters and wait for the customers to arrive. We try to keep things in stock so nobody has to go all the way into the main Ranchi city for small things.
