Ambulance - apollo

We are based out in Booti, which is a busy enough spot especially with the traffic coming through. Having an ambulance service here means we spend a lot of time just waiting and being ready. The name on the side of the vehicles is Ambulance - apollo, and we keep them parked where we can get out onto the road quickly. Booti has changed a lot over the years, with more buildings and more cars, so navigating the streets takes a bit of local knowledge. We aren't a big office with many people; it's mostly the drivers and the staff who keep the equipment ready. We spend our downtime checking the oxygen tanks and making sure the stretchers are working like they should. It’s not a glamorous job, and the hours are all over the place. Sometimes it’s dead quiet at midnight, and other times the phone won't stop ringing. We eat our meals when we can, often just sitting near the vehicles in Booti. The office is just a small room with a couple of chairs and a desk for the logs. We don't have any marketing people or fancy brochures. People just know where we are or they have our number saved for when they need it. The road noise from the main thoroughfare is something we just live with. It’s a practical life, focused on the vehicles and the response times. We just try to keep everything in running order so there are no delays when we have to head out.
