About Akash Sahu Kirana – Food & Beverages in Ranchi
Ormanjhi is a quiet place most of the time, especially around Ward Number 2. I have been running this kirana shop for a while now. Being near the Devi Mandap means we see everyone during the festivals. People stop by for their rice, dal, and oil after they finish their prayers at the temple. The shop is small and sometimes it feels a bit cramped when too many people come at once. I try to keep the sacks of grain organized, but it’s hard when new stock arrives on the truck. My brother helps me with the lifting because those bags are heavy and my back isn't what it used to be. We have a lot of regular families who have been buying from us for years. They usually just tell me what they need and I write it down in the old ledger book. The light isn't very good in the back corner, so I have to be careful when looking for specific spices. It gets dusty because of the open road, so the plastic jars need constant wiping every morning. We don't really have fancy displays or anything like that here. It’s just a regular shop where you can get your kitchen staples without any fuss. Usually, I close up when the streetlights come on, or maybe a bit later if people are still walking back from the mandap. It is a lot of work, but it keeps us busy.
