A.K General Store

My shop, A.K General Store, is sitting right on Ashok Nagar Road No.1 here in Ranchi. We are basically opposite the Canara Bank, so that’s how most people find us. When the bank is open, there’s always a crowd outside, and plenty of folks come across the street to grab a packet of chips or some matches while they wait. The shop itself is quite packed. I’ve got bags of rice stacked in the corner and rows of shampoos and soaps hanging from the ceiling hooks. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes if more than three people come in at once. I’ve been in this spot for a while, and the neighborhood has changed quite a bit over the years. The road gets a lot more traffic now than it used to. I usually start the day by sweeping the front and checking what the milkman brought. It’s just simple work, really. Nothing too complicated about it. I don't use any computers for the bills, just a notepad and a pen, which works fine for me. Sometimes I forget where I put things if I get a new delivery, but I eventually find them. If you’re ever near the bank and need something for the house, you’ll probably see me sitting there. It’s a 834002 area code, so it’s a good, central part of town to be in for a small business like this.
