Our place, Um Autocomp Pvt Ltd., is situated out at the 10th Kilometre on Delhi Road in Tehsil Rampur. It’s a bit of a drive from the main town center, but being near the Delhi Road makes it easier for the trucks and deliveries to reach us without getting stuck in the narrow city streets. We have a fair amount of space here for our machines and the materials we use for making components. The area around us is still somewhat open, though more buildings are going up every year. Working out here means we deal with the weather more directly, whether it’s the heavy rain or the summer sun hitting the roof. We started this facility to handle the production side of things, and it’s been a lot of learning as we go. Most of the people working here are from the local villages in Rampur, and we’ve all become like a big family over the years. We spend our shifts checking the machines and making sure the parts are coming out okay. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is steady work that keeps the local economy moving. Sometimes we have tea breaks outside and watch the traffic zoom by on the highway. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that, just the factory floor and a small desk for the paperwork. It’s honest work and we take it one day at a time without complaining much about the noise or the long hours.
