Ramsaroop Brick Industry

Up here in Dhaneli Uttari, things move a bit slower than they do in the big cities. Ramsaroop Brick Industry is located in the village, right in the Milak taluka. We have been making bricks here for as long as I can remember. It is a seasonal thing, really. When the rains come, we have to stop for a bit because you cannot dry the bricks properly in the wet. During the busy season, though, the whole place is buzzing. Everyone in the village knows when we are firing the kilns because you can see the smoke and smell the heat from a mile away. It is a lot of manual labor. We do not have the big fancy machines you see in the city factories. We do things by hand, from mixing the mud to stacking them for the fire. It is how we have always done it, and the bricks come out strong. My kids sometimes help out with the lighter work when they are not in school. We do not have a big sign or anything, just the kilns and the stacks of red bricks sitting by the road. People know where we are. If someone needs bricks for a new house in the village, they just come by and we figure out a price. It is just how things are done out here in the district. It isn't easy, but it is our work.
