Getting to our place is a bit of a journey because the address is quite long. We are located behind the Kotwali Gau Khana Kadim, near the Bi Amma Complex on Jain Mandir Road. If you follow the smell of glue and the rustle of thin paper, you’ll find Haji Ji Kite Manufacturer & Exporter. Our workshop is always filled with bright colors—reds, yellows, and blues of the kite paper scattered everywhere. It’s a traditional craft we’ve been doing for ages. There are bamboo sticks piled in one corner and big pots of paste in another. The floor is rarely clean because there’s always a bit of scrap paper or string lying around. We have a few older craftsmen who have been making kites since they were kids, and watching them work is something else. It’s not a modern factory with machines; it’s mostly done by hand, the old-fashioned way. During the peak season, the whole place is a hive of activity, with everyone working late into the night. We export these kites to different places, but they all start right here in these cramped rooms. The Bi Amma Complex nearby is a good landmark if you get lost in the winding streets. We don't have a big office, just a small corner where we handle the export papers and talk to the buyers who manage to find us. It’s a messy, colorful, and very busy life making kites.
