Fabric India Handloom Industry

If you go to Village Saifni and look opposite the Bank of Broda, you will find where we work at Fabric India Handloom Industry. This isn't like those big city factories with loud automated machines. Here, things move at the pace of the handloom. We spend our days working with threads and dyes, making sure the weave is tight and the patterns look right. It’s a traditional way of doing things that hasn't changed much over the years. The village is quiet, but our workshop has its own rhythm of wooden parts clicking together. We deal with a lot of cotton and traditional fabrics that people use for all sorts of things. Sometimes the dye gets on our hands and stays there for days, but nobody really minds. We keep the looms in a large open area to catch the natural light. It's a lot of manual labor, standing and moving the shuttle back and forth for hours. We talk to the neighbors as they pass by the bank, and sometimes they stop in to see what’s on the loom today. It’s a simple setup with a lot of history behind how we handle the yarn. We aren't trying to rush anything because handloom work takes the time it takes. When the sun goes down, we finish up the last few rows and cover the equipment for the next morning. It’s a steady life here in Saifni. No two pieces ever look exactly the same.
