Jungle Safari

Being based in Ramnagar means we are right in the thick of things when it involves the local wildlife and the park. We spend a lot of our time out in the open or getting the vehicles ready for the next trip. It's dusty work, and the weather can be a bit much sometimes, but that is just part of living and working here in this part of the country. We know the roads and the tracks around the area pretty well because we drive them every single day. The office is a simple place where we keep the logs and talk to people who want to see the animals in their natural habitat. It isn't always exciting; there is a lot of waiting around and making sure the engines are running right and the tires are okay. You get used to the sounds of the birds and the way the light looks early in the morning before the sun gets too high. We don't really have a fancy setup, just some wooden chairs and a big map on the wall to show where things are. Most of us grew up around here, so we have seen how the place changes with the seasons. People show up looking for tigers or elephants, and we do what we can to take them out there. Sometimes you see a lot, and sometimes you don't see much at all, but that's just how nature is. We try to keep the jeeps clean.
