We set up shop near the Rseb in Ramganjmandi. Shree Ambey Shakti Trading Company Pvt. Ltd. is basically a trading hub for local crops and supplies. Ramganjmandi is a busy place for traders, and being near the electricity board office makes it easy for people to find us. Our space is pretty basic—just a front area for meetings and a back area where we keep the records. We don't have air conditioning, so the summers can be a bit rough, but we’re used to it by now. The floor is usually covered in a bit of grain dust because that’s the nature of the business. We talk to farmers and other traders all day. Sometimes the market prices go up, sometimes they go down, and we just have to keep up with the news. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s what we know. We have some old wooden chairs and a desk that’s been here since we started. We don't see the point in buying new furniture when the old stuff works fine. People stop by to chat about the harvest or to check on their orders. We don't do any big advertising. Word of mouth in the mandi is usually enough for us. We just try to be fair and get the work done before it gets too dark to see. If the rain is heavy, we just sit back and watch it fall on the road while we drink our chai. There’s no rushing nature.
