Our group is based in Paramakudi, specifically in Sathirakudi at Dr. Ambedkar Colony. The address is 4/667. We are a producer company, which means we are a collection of local farmers working together. Our office is a very simple building in the colony. It’s where we all meet up to talk about the organic crops and what’s happening in the fields. Paramakudi can be a very dry and dusty place, so we spend a lot of time discussing water and weather. The office has a few chairs, a big table, and some posters on the wall about farming techniques. We don’t have any fancy staff or corporate executives. Everyone here knows what it’s like to work the land. We keep our records in simple files and use a small computer for the official stuff. It’s a community effort more than a business. You’ll often find a few of us sitting outside the door in the shade, just talking about the harvest. We don’t use any marketing speak or have a big mission statement on the wall. We just want to make sure our organic produce is handled right and that we get a fair deal for our hard work. The colony is a quiet place and everyone knows everyone else. It’s a very direct and honest way of doing business together as a group. Sometimes the meetings go on for a long time if there is a lot to decide about the next planting season.
