Mohamed Sathak Dastagir Matriculation & Higher Secondary School

Our school, Mohamed Sathak Dastagir Matriculation & Higher Secondary School, is located at number 1 in Pattanamkathan. Ramanathapuram is a dry and hot place, so we spend a lot of time trying to stay out of the sun. The school grounds are quite large, and there’s a lot of open space between the blocks. We have a lot of students coming in from the surrounding villages, so the mornings are a bit of a rush with the school buses arriving. The buildings are painted in plain colors and we don't really bother with much decoration on the outside. Inside, the classrooms are filled with rows of desks and blackboards that have been washed so many times they’re turning grey. We have a lab and a library, but they are very functional rooms without any extra fluff. The staff mostly keeps to themselves in the break room, checking the registers and planning for the next week. We don’t have air conditioning, so the big ceiling fans are always humming in the background. It’s a very straightforward environment. We focus on the books and the exams because that’s what the parents expect from us. There’s no fancy marketing or big promises. We just provide the space and the time for the students to do their work and get through their secondary education properly. It is just a normal school doing its job every day.
