Thurugapuri Weaver Producer Company Limited

Our operation is based out in Kudur, which is part of the Magadi area in Ramanagara district. We are registered at Ward No 05 under the care of Somesh K S. It’s a local setup for Thurugapuri Weaver Producer Company Limited. Most of the people involved are weavers from the nearby villages who have been doing this for generations. We don't have a big city office with glass windows and air conditioning. Instead, we work out of a more traditional space that fits the way we live and work in the village. The focus is really on the weaving itself and making sure the members of our group get a fair deal for their labor. It’s quiet out here compared to the noise of Bangalore, which is nice for focusing. We spend a lot of time discussing thread prices and looking at what the looms have produced during the week. Sometimes the logistics of getting things to the bigger markets can be a bit of a struggle, but we figure it out as we go. It’s a community thing more than anything else. We started this to help each other out in the weaving community. You won't find any fancy logos or marketing brochures in our office. Just hard-working people and the smell of raw cotton and dye. It’s how it has always been in this part of Ramanagara and we like it that way.
