Ruha Sustainable Livelihood Foundation

Our place is out in Ramanagar, specifically in Solur Hobli. The full address is #69/11 in TG Palya, over in Arasanakunte, Madigondanahalli. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say, and it’s definitely not in the middle of a big city like Bangalore. It’s much quieter out here. We are surrounded by more greenery than concrete, which is nice for a change. The office is really just a simple room where we keep our stuff and meet up. Since we are in Ramanagar, things move a bit slower than they do in the city. We spend a lot of time talking to the locals around Arasanakunte. It’s a small community and everyone kind of knows each other. We don’t have a fancy website or a lot of high-tech equipment. Most of our work is done on the ground, just talking to people and seeing what’s needed for their daily lives. The building itself is pretty basic. We’ve got a few chairs and some old desks we’ve had for years. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in when the wind picks up, but you get used to it. It’s a long drive if you are coming from the main highway, but it’s where we need to be. We aren’t trying to be some big corporate entity. We are just a local foundation working out of a small village area. It’s practical for us. We deal with the weather and the local schedules. It is just life here.
