Our company, D.V.Karthik Marble & Granite Exports Pvt Ltd, is out in the countryside at Survey No. 197/4 in Thamasandra Village. It’s in the Kanakapura Taluk area, quite a way from the main city buzz. Being out here means we have plenty of space for the heavy slabs of stone we deal with every day. If you visit, you’ll see huge blocks of granite and marble stacked up in the yard. It’s a dusty, outdoor kind of job. We spend our days moving these heavy pieces around with cranes and cutting them down to size. The air always smells a bit like wet stone and diesel from the machinery we use. We aren't big on fancy office spaces; we usually just have a small room with a table where we can look at orders and have some coffee. Our team is mostly guys from the nearby villages who know how to handle the stone without breaking anything. It’s hard work and the sun beats down on the yard all day, but we’re used to it. We don’t do much in the way of advertising. Usually, the stone speaks for itself when people come to see the colors and patterns for their projects. We just focus on getting the slabs loaded onto the trucks and sent off for export. It’s a very simple, hands-on business. We live and work by the rhythm of the quarry and the cutting machines here in Thamasandra Village. We stay until the trucks are loaded and the day is finally done. It's quiet once the machines stop.
