Vishal Ornaments

If you’ve ever walked through Sarafa Bazar, you know how crowded it gets, especially during the wedding season. Vishal Ornaments is on the first floor, so you have to walk up these narrow, steep stairs to find us. It’s a bit of a climb, but it’s quieter up here than it is on the street level. We’ve been selling jewelry in this market for a long time. The shop is filled with glass cases, and we spend a lot of time polishing things and making sure everything looks right. My uncle started this place, and I’ve been here since I was a teenager. We see all kinds of people coming in, some looking for a small ring and others looking for a full set for a bride. We don't have those big air-conditioned showrooms you see in the malls. It’s just a traditional shop where you sit down on the floor cushions and look at the gold. We drink a lot of tea with our customers while we talk about designs and prices. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the old hand fans, but nobody seems to mind much. It’s just how things are in the old bazar. We know most of the other jewelers on this street, and we all keep an eye on each other’s shops. It’s a busy life, but we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
