Marble Art is located right by the bus stand on N.H.8 in Piparda. Being so close to the highway and the bus stop means there is always dust and people moving about. We work with stone, so it’s a heavy and loud job most of the time. You can hear the sound of the saws and the grinding from down the street. It’s not the cleanest work, as there’s always white dust on our clothes and in our hair by lunchtime. We’ve got slabs of marble leaning against the walls and small scraps all over the floor. Piparda isn’t a huge place, so everyone around here knows where we are. We don’t have a fancy front desk; usually, someone just walks into the yard and yells for us. We spend our days cutting, polishing, and trying to get the edges just right. It takes a lot of patience because stone isn’t very forgiving if you make a mistake. The sun can get pretty brutal out here by the road, but we just keep at it. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop around, just one that does the work properly. People come to us when they need something solid for their homes or shops. It’s a tough way to make a living, but there is something nice about seeing a rough block of stone turn into something smooth. We’ve been at this spot for years and don't plan on going anywhere else soon.
