Hindustan Zinc Limited

Up here at the Exploration Department, we are based right at the Rajpura Dariba Mine site. It’s located in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, near the Dariba post office. Being out at the mine means we are pretty far from the city noise. You get used to the sound of the machinery and the sight of the hills around here. The air is different, a bit more open but dusty too. Our office is a practical space where we look at maps and data all day. It’s not the kind of place you come to see fancy furniture or modern art on the walls. We have old desks and shelves full of reports. The Rajpura Dariba Mine is a huge operation, and we are just one part of it, tucked away in our section. Most of us have been working in this district for years. We know the roads and the local weather patterns. Sometimes it gets lonely being out here, but there is always something to do. We eat our lunch together and talk about the rocks or whatever is happening in the pits that day. It is hard work, but it’s steady. We don't have many visitors except for the people we work with.
