Bhatia Sanitary Store

Bhatia Sanitary Store has been sitting at 537 Dalima Vihar for a long time. If you live in this part of District Patiala, you probably know the building. It’s filled from floor to ceiling with pipes, taps, and all sorts of bathroom fixtures. It isn't the kind of place where everything is laid out like a museum. Instead, things are stacked where they fit, and you might have to wait a minute while we find the exact washer or valve you’re looking for. The shelves are heavy with brass and plastic parts. We get a lot of local plumbers coming in early in the morning before they head off to their jobs. They usually want a quick cup of tea and a bit of talk about the local news while we get their supplies ready. It’s a simple shop. The floor is a bit worn down from years of people walking in with muddy boots. We don’t bother with big advertisements or anything like that. People just know we are here. Sometimes the stock gets a bit overwhelming and we have to reorganize the whole back room, which takes a couple of days of heavy lifting. My family has spent most of their lives around these counters. We know which taps leak and which ones last, just from seeing what people bring back over the years.
