Asst. Store

Our place is in Manpur, specifically at House Number 408 in Ward Number 13. If you know the Bazzar Para area, you’ve probably walked past us a few times. It’s right in the middle of the local activity here in Rajnandgaon. Being the assistant at the store means I’m usually the one opening up the shutters early in the morning. The air is still a bit cool then before the Chhattisgarh sun really starts beating down. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here in Tehsil Manpur. Most of our day is spent unloading supplies and making sure the inventory matches what the head office thinks we have. We don’t have any fancy computer systems that do everything for us, so there’s a lot of manual counting and writing in ledgers. Sometimes the locals stop by just to chat for a minute while they’re headed to the market. The building itself is old, with thick walls that stay somewhat cool even in May. We keep the tools and materials stacked according to size, though it gets a bit disorganized when a big order comes in all at once. I try to keep the dust off the shelves, but in this part of the country, that’s a losing battle. It’s just a regular village store operation where we do our best to stay on top of the stock levels without making too much of a fuss. I spend my lunch breaks sitting out front.
