Vikram Casting is situated at 6-umakant Pandit Udyognagar in Rajkot. We are right in the middle of the industrial belt. The main thing we do here is metal casting. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months when the furnace is running full blast. The floor is usually covered in sand and molds. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear nice clothes. We wear our old work shirts and boots every day. Most of the guys here have tough hands from years of handling heavy molds. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just rely on whether the castings we produce actually work for the customer. If a batch isn't right, we just melt it down and start over. It’s a lot of physical labor. We have a small office area tucked in the front where we keep the bills and the phone. It’s usually a bit dusty because of the nature of our work. We’ve seen the city grow around us over the years, but our little corner of the Udyognagar remains pretty much the same. We take pride in the fact that we can still do things the traditional way when needed. It’s a gritty job, but someone has to do it. We just show up, do the work, and hope for a good pour every time. Sometimes the metal behaves, sometimes it doesn't, but we always figure it out eventually.
