Prakash Head Repairing

If you’ve got engine trouble around Gondal Road, you might have passed by our place. Prakash Head Repairing is right there at Vijay Plot, right opposite the Verai Bhuvan building. It’s a small spot at Number 3, and usually, there’s a pile of metal parts outside or some greasy engine heads waiting on the bench. We’ve been fixing heads and doing general engine work for a long time. It is dirty work, but someone has to do it. Our hands are almost always black with oil by noon. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a secretary to answer the phones. Most of the time, we are hunched over a machine or a block of iron trying to get a surface flat again. It’s loud because of the Gondal Road traffic and the sound of our own tools. We see all kinds of vehicles come through, from old trucks to small cars. We just look at what is broken and try to fix it so it lasts. We don't do much talking; we just show what needs to be done. It is a practical business. People know us in this part of town because we’ve stayed in the same spot at Vijay Plot for years. It isn't a polished operation, but the work gets done. If the light is on at the shop, someone is probably there working on a valve or a cylinder head.
