Umiya Medical

Umiya Medical is right on the main road here in Upleta, near Gandhi Chowk. It’s a noisy part of town with all the bikes and cars going past all day long. We started this place because people in the Lati Plot area needed a spot to get their tablets without traveling too far across town. The shop isn't very big and the shelves are crowded with all sorts of medicine boxes. Sometimes it takes a minute to find the right thing but we know where everything is kept. We spend most of our day talking to people who feel a bit under the weather. It is a lot of standing around and waiting for the next person to walk in. The floor gets dusty from the road outside so we are always sweeping it up. Upleta is a small place and word travels fast between neighbors. We just try to keep the basic stuff in stock. If someone needs something specific we try to get it from the city the next day. It’s just me and a couple of others working here. We take turns for lunch breaks in the back. Sometimes we stay open a bit late if someone calls ahead and says they are coming. It’s not like those big city pharmacies where nobody knows who you are. We remember what people usually come in for and ask how they are doing. The front door sticks a bit when it rains but we just pull it hard.
